Who am I?
I am a career counselor, student champion, Auburn Univeristy alumnus, public speaker, enjoyer of books, Green Lantern fan and social media devourer to name a few things, but that is by no means a complete list.
Presently I am a Career Counselor with the Auburn University Career Center. Where I strive daily to meet the needs of the students I serve and rise and surpass the expectations set for me by my colleagues. My journey to working in higher education is a winding one. Having thought that I was going to be a psychiatrist since the ninth grade of high school, imagine my shock when I stopped wanting to be so during the summer before senior of college.
Participating as a staff member in my undergraduate institution's orientation program opened my eyes to realm of higher education as not only a place of learning but as a career too. After consulting with trusted mentors and close friends I began my journey.Though i may not expressly use my undergraduate
degrees of Psychology and Biomedical Science, I still value the learning and experiences they provided for me. If nothing else they provide a shared experience with many of my students.
Having completed my masters in Higher Education Administration with an assistantship in career services, I knew that that is where I wanted to remain. It provides a unique and challenging atmosphere to work in and one that I fine to be very rewarding.
